Randy found himself in race car for the first time, at age 29, thanks to his wife buying him a gift certificate to a Three Day school. He went, he was fast, and the next thing he knew he bought a Formula Vee. By 1991, Randy won the notoriously competitive SCCA San Francisco Region FVee title… All Skip Barber instructors have, by necessity, huge amounts of patience, but Randy is known for his Biblically prodigious forbearance – especially as chief steward and pit lane coordinator for the Skip Barber National, contested mostly by very young, impetuous teens.
