Series Director Todd Snyder caught this defining moment on ”film” in Saturday’s Sportsman race. Phillip Ploskas, in the #39 on the right, oofed the compromised right-hander, allowing Jonathan Miller, in the #25 on the left, to take the lead for good.

Another really good show. Gomez led wire to wire for his inaugural Skippy win, but it was close the whole way. Huff put in fastest race-lap on his charge from the third row to P2 at the end, just 8/10s back, while Mike LeBrun in third was even closer (.557 behind). Vallo, Llano, Lee, Mark Marchbanks and Michele Marden rounded out the field, all on the lead lap.

Forget Matt Varsha! (Who won twice, decisively) The big news is that International TV Star Bob Varsha, Matt’s dad, was finally persuaded, following years of failure on Rick Roso’s part to make the same thing happen, to get in one of our race cars! Bob’s call of the F1 races are, believe it or not, gonna be even better! Right, Bob? Bob?

He huffed and he puffed and he blew himself onto the podium! Brandon Huff’s first-ever Race Weekend resulted in a sixth and a second. Well done…

Rookie Robbie Card came back from an unfortunate MDNF on Saturday to grab a fine sixth on Sunday.

Way to go, David Libby! Libby’s first Series win came in the Saturday afternoon 16-lap Memorial. Libby clawed his way up into second from the third row and took first on the last lap when MHP needed to pit. Pew got second when he got around Greist on the last lap.

Help me out here. Doesn’t Porsche contractually stipulate to all buyers/lessees, ”Setzen Sie nie Ihre stinky FuЯaufladungen auf die Haube von einem Carrera!” (Never put your stinky-foot boots on the hood of a Carrera!)

We’re glad everybody enjoyed coming to Barber Motorsports Park, a true first-class experience. Rounds three and four of the Southern Series is November 12-14, at a wonderfully revamped Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia.

And don’t forget, any Series driver that’s entered at least one Race Weekend since November of 2003 can enter the Skip Barber U.S. Regional Run-off — where close to $50,000 is up for grabs! — at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, November 19-21. See you there!
