All-New Program Announced: The High Performance Driving School

Tuesday, December 27, 2005 For those enthusiasts who have dreamed of learning to drive high performance cars at the limits, we recently announced the creation of two new programs aimed specifically at premium driving enthusiasts. Geared toward turning high performance car enthusiasts into high performance car drivers, the High Performance Driving School launches January 9, 2006 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif.

Like other of our Driving School programs, the goal of the High Performance Driving School is to develop confidence and car control skills behind the wheel. Unique to the program, however, is that students receive time on Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca’s historic 2.24-mile road course. Buckle into a potent high performance fleet that includes Porsche 911s, Boxsters, BMW M3s and 330i sport sedans and the 500hp Dodge Viper SRT10.

The Two-Day format places premium sports cars in their natural environment, on the racetrack. Incremental to core autocross and skidpad (slide and recovery) exercises are lead-follow on-track sessions and hot lap session as an instructor illustrates proper technique and efficiency around the circuit. The One-Day format offers the same hi-octane mix of infield exercises and an exhilarating hot lap.

An important distinguishing point from ”factory-backed” programs is that drivers experience, evaluate and measure multiple brands with our legendary teaching methods on one of the nations most storied tracks. In a market rife with vehicle performance claims, the program is a must for anyone in premium car, pre-purchase mode.

”These two new programs were created for our customers to experience the excitement and thrill of driving high performance cars,” said George Ayres, president and chief operating officer for Skip Barber Racing School. He continued, ”Our students want to see what the cars are capable of on an extraordinary track. Skip Barber instruction gives them the skill set and environment to do that.”

Following its California launch, expect the High Performance Driving School to roll out at our other base locations: Road America, Sebring International Raceway, Daytona International Speedway and Lime Rock Park, located two hours North of New York City. The program price is $1,495 for the One-Day and $2,695 for the Two -Day program.
