Friday, April 21, 2006 ALTON, Va. – Late entrant Chris Wehrheim surprised everyone with the quickest time in the first practice session in preparation for qualifying later this afternoon for Saturday’s race one. A second practice session is scheduled for 1:00 today; the qualifier is set for 4:15.

Rain was called for today, but it’s yet to show up.

Chris Wehrheim, who won Skip Barber sponsorship money in the 2005 Karting Scholarship Shoot-out, missed the 2006 A1GP Skip Barber National opener — but that didn’t slow him down any…

The driver who won twice at Laguna, Marco Di Leo, was second-quick, .162 behind Wehrheim.
