2010-2011 Southern and Western Formula Series and MAZDASPEED Challenge Race Previews

The Skip Barber Racing Winter Season is almost underway and series seats are filling up fast. The first rounds of the Skip Barber Southern Series and Western are quickly approaching and here’s a look at what’s coming up:
Western Series:

mrls02The Skip Barber Formula Western Series will start off the winter season at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca November 6-7. Located in Monterey, California, the fifty-three year old track is 2.238-mile long with eleven turns (including the famous “Corkscrew”) and 300 feet in elevation changes. Last year’s season opener’s winners included Formula Skip Barber 2000 drivers Emil Sildos and Kyle Gimple, both with two wins.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Southern Series:

ratl02The racers of the Skip Barber Formula Southern Series and the Skip Barber Southern MAZDASPEED Challenge will be competing at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia November 12-13. The 2.54 mile, twelve-turn track is located in Northeast Georgia and is recognized as one of the world’s best road courses. Road Atlanta has 320,000 visitors each year from 33 states and 18 countries. Road Atlanta will be the first stop in the 2010-2011 winter schedule for the Southern Series. Last year’s winners for the Formula Skip Barber 2000 cars were Ashley Freiberg and Felix Serralles, both with two wins. In the MAZDASPEED Challenge, Tyler Wolfson and Brian Freiberg were the winners of the weekend.
