Western Series: Kaiser and Blackstock Win in Second Weekend

Monday, December 20, 2010 While the rest of the world was preparing for the holidays, the racers of the Formula Skip Barber Western Race Series put the Christmas decorations aside to spend quality time on track with their racing family. Last week marked the second race weekend this winter at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Kyle Kaiser, Thomas McGregor, Scott Anderson, Shelby Blackstock and Jake Eidson dominated the top five positions in both races, with Kaiser and Blackstock each taking home a win (the first Western win for Blackstock).

Kaiser and McGregor were the only two drivers to grace the podium on both occasions, and Kaiser set the fastest lap time in both sessions. McGregor now has a nine-point lead in the championship over Scott Anderson. Blackstock is just two points behind Anderson in the championship. Stephen Hill is currently leading the Grand Master’s championship by six points over Walter Kuhn, with Douglas Tuttle six points behind Kuhn.

Next, the race for the championship will continue at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca January 15-16, followed by Chuckwalla Valley Raceway, a new bi-directional track February 5-6.
