Drake Kemper wins 2014 MAZDASPEED Pro ChallengeOct 03, 2014
Braselton, GA (Oct. 3, 2014) – Drake Kemper emerged as the winner of the 2014 MAZDASPEED Pro Challenge on Friday. It was a rainy race at Road Atlanta as the competitors in the series finale took to the track.
Kemper, of Toluca Lake, California, kicked off the first race in the number three spot. After an intense fight for the lead with Ben Albano, Robby Foley and Bryan Hixon, he finally triumphed. His first place win in the first race of the finale ensured his victory in the series.
Albano, of Greenwich, Connecticut, battled Foley throughout the second race and eventually took first. He placed second in the series, 26 total points behind Kemper. Foley, of Randolph, New Jersey, finished third in the series.
After snatching the points lead from Bryan Hixon during Rounds 3 and 4 of the MAZDASPEED Pro Challenge at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in May, Kemper maintained his lead through the series finale. He further established himself as a serious contender when he swept Road America in August for Rounds 9 and 10. He won a total of five of the 12 races.
Kemper’s prizes include a $75,000 scholarship from Mazda for the 2015 Mazda MX-5 Cup, entry fees for the 2015 Mazda MX-5 Cup, and one set of racing slicks per race. For information about the 2015 MAZDASPEED Pro Challenge, call 800-221-1131.
