Skip Barber Racing School Announces 2015 Skip Barber Summer Series

Braselton, Ga. (January 9, 2014) – The schedule for the 2015 Skip Barber Racing School Formula and MAZDASPEED Challenge Summer Series is set. The upcoming season promises to be the most thrilling yet as the series travels to seven iconic tracks, with a long list of strong competitors, and approximately $46,000 in racing prizes and awards.

“The Skip Barber Race Series provides exceptional experiences that racers never forget and this new season is no exception,” said Director of Competition, Casey Carden. “The Skip Barber team has worked hard to create a schedule that will excite our racers. These are the some of the most iconic tracks in North America, and we can’t wait to start another competitive season filled with talented racers and action packed racing.”

With it’s time tested “Arrive and Drive” format – ensuring that every racer has access to the same equipment regardless of their ability to spend, Skip Barber Racing School is the purest form of racing. World class instruction and world renowned tracks set the stage for an action packed season of racing.

  • Rounds 1 & 2 at Road Atlanta -May 13-17, 2015
  • Rounds 3 & 4 at Lime Rock Park- June 1-6, 2015
  • Rounds 5 & 6 at Road America– July 6-9 2015 
  • Rounds 7 & 8 at Homestead (Evening Race) – August  5-8, 2015  
  • Rounds 9 & 10 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca- August  20-23, 2015
  • Rounds 11 & 12 at VIR Full Course- September 28 – September 30, 2015
  • Rounds 13 & 14 at NOLA- Oct. 22 – 25, 2015

Schedule – MX-5

  • Rounds 1 & 2 at Road Atlanta -May 14-17, 2015
  • Rounds 3 & 4 at Lime Rock Park- June 2-6, 2015
  • Rounds 5 & 6 at Homestead (Evening Race) – August  5-8, 2015

Summary – 2015 Formula Summer Series

  • Top 5 earn a spot in the 2015 Skip Barber Championship Shootout
  • Total of $46,500 in available awards
  • Drop lowest race result
  • Able to transfer 1 double for points

  • 3 Race Weekends (2 races per group)
  • Total of up to $33,550 in available awards
  • Drop lowest race result
  • MX-5 with Pro Challenge Trim:
    • Cars will run on R1 Slicks (the same compound as the Professional MAZDASPEED Series)
    • Cars will have Aim Smarty Cams installed allowing racers access to data and video
