2016 Skip Barber Racing Academy Set for February 20-22, 2017 at Sebring International Raceway

BRASELTON, Ga (June 15, 2016) – Skip Barber Racing School is excited to announce that the 2016 Skip Barber Racing Academy will take place on February 20 – 22, 2017 at Sebring International Raceway in Florida.  In its 4th iteration, the field is expected to be one of the most talented and competitive groups to date.

Racers from across the world will meet at Sebring International Raceway to compete for the grand prize of a fully paid season in the Skip Barber Championship Series. 2015 Academy Champion Matt Widner used his winnings to partake in this year’s  2016 Skip Barber Championship Series.This Summer Widner has joined other racers traveling to iconic tracks across the country for 8 race weekends to compete for the lucrative $200,000 purse.   The prize will help racers launch their racing careers with media exposure, expert coaching, on-track-and-drive experience, financial awards and motorsports scholarships.

Candidates for the Skip Barber Racing Academy attend a Skip Barber 3 Day Racing School (Formula or MX5) and an advanced activity (an Advanced 2 Day Racing School OR 2 lapping days).  Candidates can also take a 4 Day Racing School to meet all requirements in one shot! The top candidates will be invited to partake in a shootout where a champion will be crowned.

This event is one of the most unique platforms in the motorsport industry for aspiring racers. It is designed for enthusiasts without prior racing experience to pursue their dreams of becoming professional race car drivers.  This elite academy provides access to the same training, coaching and track time that the pros like Alexander Rossi, Sergio Perez, Gabby Chavez, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Josef Newgarden, Townsend Bell have had.
