LAMBROS GETS HIS FIRST POLE AND WIN OF 2023!
May 22, 2023

William Lambros painted the town and the front porch at the SRO TC America race weekend at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
On Saturday, Will earned his first TC America pole in his No. 77 Skip Barber Racing School HPD Honda Civic Si. Lambros built a substantial lead at the start but eventually fell to second. Lambros held on tightly, allowing only a .625-second gap between his Skip Barber Racing School Honda Civic Si and the leader. Lambros was badgered all race long by the third-place car with only a .257 gap between the two Honda race cars. He hung on to second place, scoring his first podium of the weekend.
Sunday started rainy, and cloudy skies hovered over the track at race time. The track surface was neither thoroughly wet nor dry, making it a tough call for teams regarding tires. Leaning on his SBRS rain line training, Lambros quickly took advantage of the pole sitter and made a pass on the very first lap. The No. 77 Skip Barber Racing School Honda Civic Si driver never gave up the lead and took his first checked flag of the 2023 season. “I’m super excited said Will. It was such a hardcore weekend. We finally got that win. We had two second-place finishes at NOLA and had a fast pace this week. We struggled with brake fade, but we held it off this time.”
Cooper Broll represented the team in the No. 19 Honda Civic Si FE1. The rookie has shown steady improvement throughout the season and narrowly missed a podium on Saturday by finishing 4th.
Skip Barber Racing School’s Celso Neto and his HPD Honda Civic Type R started on the TC class pole Saturday. In the opening minutes, it looked like Celso Neto would go from the pole to the checkers without issue in the No. 7 Skip Barber Racing School Honda Civic Type-R. However, the second place Clayton Williams garnered speed, closed the gap, and made the pass for the lead within the first 10 minutes of the race. The two would go back and forth, side by side, until the Williams made the final pass on the last lap. Celso fell to second, finishing on the podium.
On Sunday, Celso started from the pole again in the TC No. 7 Skip Barber Racing School Honda Civic Type-R and scored another podium appearance finishing 3rd.
Celso currently sits third in the SRO TC points standings.
