Thursday, March 18, 2010 Brazilian driver Nicolas Costa captured his first pole in Skip Barber National competition in this morning’s qualifying for Round 3 of the 2010 BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda. Timing his lap perfectly, Costa used the draft to record a 2:21.855 sec. lap to secure the bonus point for pole by almost a half second over Nick Andries. Southern Race Series point leader Ashley Freiberg will start third with a 2:23.025 sec. lap, followed by MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development driver Spencer Pigot with sophomore driver Isaac Lyons rounding out the top five. Skip Barber Cup driver Jim Norman was the surprise of the session, qualifying eighth with a 2:23.733.
