Sonoma Raceway

A Tarmac Ribbon

Sonoma Raceway is considered a gem in the road course community for schools, experiences, and races not only for the track itself but also for its idyllic wine country location and proximity to San Francisco. It is a 2.52-mile and 12-turn road course and a quarter-mile drag strip located at Sears Point in Sonoma County, California. Built in 1968 the track is carved into rolling hills with 160 ft of total elevation change.

Sonoma is also one of the longest-standing road courses on the NASCAR calendar with stock cars first visiting the track in 1969, one year after it opened. It is one of the world’s busiest racing facilities, with track activity ranging from experiential and instructional programs to track days.

Earlier this season, Skip Barber Racing finished on the podium in TC America powered by the Skip Barber Racing School! Plus, the Skip Barber Race Series will hold its 2026 season finale at Sonoma!

KEYS TO SONOMA

Weather

Sonoma Raceway's location in the Bay Area means variable weather conditions that can change substantially throughout the day. Dress for a variety of temperatures as a stiff breeze is not uncommon to find rolling off the hills next to the track.

Hotels

The nearby towns of Novato, Sonoma, or Petaluma offer a variety of traditional hotel options. You can also extend further into Napa Valley for more boutique accommodations.

Getting There

Sonoma Raceway is best reached by flying into San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and traveling north across the Golden Gate Bridge into Napa Valley. Private aviation options include Napa County Airport or Petaluma Municipal Airport.

Other Points

The nearby Wing & Barrel Ranch, a private sporting club features timeless traditions ranging from sporting clays, fly fishing, or upland bird hunting. These experiences can add a unique touch to any Skip Barber Corporate Event held at Sonoma.
