Allmendinger finished runner-up in the NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity Series race this past weekend at Watkins Glen International, running full-time in the Xfinity Series and part-time in the Cup Series. The Dinger’s second-place finish in the Cup Series race behind the wheel of the No. 16 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet marks his best Cup Series finish this season. In his Xfinity season, it marks his tenth podium finish of the season. Allmendinger is ranked third in the projected Playoffs standings. Allmendinger is a Skip Barber Race Series alum and champion. Sammy Smith took the last step on the podium in only his fourth start in the Xfinity Series. Smith runs part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. Noah Gragson finished behind Smith, wheeling his No. 9 JR Motorsports Chevrolet to the fourth-place position.
