Skip Barber graduates swept the NASCAR weekend at Kansas Speedway, winning all three of NASCAR’s premier series races. In the Cup Series race, Bubba Wallace claimed his second career Cup Series victory in dominating fashion. Wallace led 58 laps behind the wheel of the No. 45 Toyota for 23XI Racing, including the last 48 when he retained the lead after the final green flag pit stops. The win locks the No. 45 team into the next round of the owner’s championship playoffs. Noah Gragson won the rain-shortened race in the Xfinity Series, marking his fifth Xfinity Series victory of the 2022 season. Gragson rolled off from the sixth spot behind the wheel of the No. 9 JR Motorsports Chevrolet and took the lead after a restart on lap 76. After Stage 2, the rain began to fall over Kansas Speedway, concluding the race and declaring Gragson the winner. Gragson is seated first in the Playoffs and will advance to the next round. Four Skip Barber graduates finished in the Top 5 in the Camping World Truck Series race. John Hunter Nemechek took the win over Carson Hocevar in the final lap. Nemechek dominated the evening, piloting the No. 4 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota to both stage wins, the overall race victory, and locked himself into the next round of the Playoffs. Hocevar, who had to win to make it into the next round of the Playoffs, gambled on strategy but began to run out of fuel on the white flag. The driver of the No. 42 Niece Motorsports Chevrolet held onto the second-place spot, securing his fourth career runner-up finish. Zane Smith finished the night in the fourth-place position and leads the Playoffs standings. Grant Enfinger drove the No. 23 GMS Racing Chevrolet to fifth place, his sixth Top 5 finish this season. In the INDYCAR season finale at Laguna Seca, Josef Newgarden finished runner-up. After a mistake in qualifying, Newgarden started the race from 25th. The No. 2 Team Penske Chevrolet team had a great strategy and Newgarden’s driving ability allowed them to rebound to a second-place finish. Newgarden finished second in the final season points, only sixteen points from the championship but won the most races this year with a total of five victories.
