Skip Barber Racing School alumni and race-winner in the Skip Barber SBF2000 Winter Series, Colton Herta, will serve as the test driver for Cadillac Formula 1 Team in 2026. Additionally, Herta will compete in the 2026 Formula 2 season in pursuit of the necessary Super License points required of drivers who enter into a Formula 1 Grand Prix. Herta, the son of fellow Skip Barber alumni Bryan Herta, began his car racing career with Skip Barber following multiple years of success in karting. Herta competed in the Skip Barber Scholarship Shootout, a program that had previously been won by Ryan Hunter-Reay and Alexander Rossi. Following that, he joined the SBF2000 Winter Series grid, earning one win and four podium finishes. Stints in Europe and Indy Lights proceeded his debut in the NTT IndyCar Series at the 2018 season finale with Harding Racing. Just two races later, Herta would become the youngest driver to win in the NTT IndyCar Series with a victory at Circuit of the Americas for Harding Steinbrenner Racing. A second victory would follow in the season finale at Laguna Seca, leaving Herta to finish seventh in his rookie campaign. After six seasons with Andretti Global, Herta will chase his Formula 1 dreams with this new venture in Cadillac’s Formula 1 stable. Herta will not be the first prominent member of Cadillac’s Formula 1 team with connections to the Skip Barber Racing School.
