The Skip Barber Formula Race Series visits Elkhart Lake’s Road America for the fifth round as the seven-round series nears the end. The 4-mile, high-speed road course has hosted NASCAR, IMSA, INDYCAR, and SRO events, and will host the new Skip Barber Formula Car for the first time this weekend with most of the field racing on Road America for their first time. Top motorsports drivers from around the world have started their racing journey with the Race Series. Sergio Perez, Alexander Rossi, Josef Newgarden, Ryan Hunter-Reay, A.J. Allmendinger, and Juan Pablo Montoya are just a few of the notables who began their careers with the Skip Barber Race Series. With equalized race cars and a focus on driver development, the Skip Barber Formula Race Series is the perfect platform for aspiring racers to jumpstart their racing dreams. Elvis Rankin travels to Wisconsin as the points leader, leading Jeshua Alianell by eight points. Rankin, second-place finisher in this year’s Skip Barber Formula iRacing Series, took over the points lead from Alianell after sweeping the previous race week at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Bobby Krug remains third in the overall standings with 226 points but lost ground to the Top 2 after struggling at New Jersey. Two drivers occupy fourth place in the points; 2022 Skip Barber Formula iRacing Series Champion Mikkel Gade and Skip Barber Formula Race Series veteran William Lambros. Both Gade and Lambros, fresh off podiums in the last round, are bound to be underdogs for a big win at Road America. Bob Perlmutter leads the Masters’ division with 135 points. In second place, 45 points back, is Rocco Orlando. Edgar White, Nathaniel Duckles, and Jimmy Dai round out the Top 5 in the Masters’ division. Catch all the action from Road America this week!
