Over 50 percent of the drivers who finished in the top fifteen of the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix from Circuit of the Americas on Sunday were graduates of the Skip Barber Racing School, including six drivers who scored top-ten finishes in the NASCAR Cup Series race from the longest track on the calendar. Alex Bowman (4th), Tyler Reddick (5th), AJ Allmendinger (6th), Ross Chastain (7th), Chris Buescher (8th), and Kyle Busch (9th) all finished in the top ten. They were joined in the top half of the results page by Joey Logano (11th) and Bubba Wallace (15th). For Chastain, his seventh-place finish in the Cup Series was his second top-ten finish of the weekend, following a fifth-place result in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series’ XPEL 225 on Saturday. Christian Eckes (8th) and Tanner Gray (10th) were the other Skip Barber Racing School graduates in the top ten of the XPEL 225. In the NASCAR Xfinity Series race, Austin Hill was the top Skip Barber alumni with his second-place finish ahead of John Hunter Nemechek (3rd) and Allmendinger (10th). The NTT IndyCar Series traveled to Southern California over the weekend for the $1 Million Challenge, a non-point All-Star race at the private resort course of Thermal Club. A unique strategy call of extreme tire-saving in the first half from Colton Herta’s Andretti Autosport team delivered him a fourth-place finish, netting the team a $100,000 paycheck. Alexander Rossi (7th) and Josef Newgarden (8th) also finished in the top ten. Finally, Skip Barber Racing School graduate Sergio Perez finished fifth in the Australian Grand Prix. Looking ahead to next weekend, the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series will travel to Richmond Raceway. It will be an otherwise quiet weekend for racing as IndyCar and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship prepare for Long Beach next month and Formula 1 takes a weekend off before returning with the Japanese Grand Prix.
