Skip Barber Racing School alumni Wyatt Brichacek paired with former Skip Barber Race Series driver Lincoln Day to win the IMSA AirBnB Endurance Challenge from Road America while Oliver Wheldon scored another podium finish in USF2000 on the debut weekend of the Markham, Ontario Street Course.
Brichacek and Day were joined on the podium by fellow Skip Barber graduate Ari Balogh who finished just ten points behind the eventual driver’s champion. Meanwhile, graduate Todd Treffert finished third in Race 1 of the Porsche Sprint Challenge, North America weekend in the series’ Master’s Class.
In Markham, five different alumni of the Skip Barber Race Series scored a top-ten finish or better in USF2000 with Race Series champion Oliver Wheldon netting the best result, a second-place finish in Race 2. Naim Saleh (9th in Race 1), Thomas Nordquist (6th in Race 2), Ryan Giannetta (7th in Race 2), and Jack Mohrhardt (10th in Race 2) also had strong finishes.
Sunday’s NTT IndyCar Series race saw alumni Graham Rahal (9th) and Santino Ferrucci (10th) finish in the top-ten. This was Ferrucci’s fourth top-ten finish of the season with three of them coming on road courses.
Finally, the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series visited Richmond Raceway where alumni Joey Logano won the Saturday night Cup Series show. Austin Cindric (3rd), Josh Berry (8th), and Alex Bowman (10th) also finished in the top-ten. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race saw Christian Eckes (3rd), Grant Enfinger (5th), Jake Garcia (6th), and Chandler Smith (7th) have strong runs.
