Logan Anderson earned his first career Touring Car America powered by the Skip Barber Racing School podium at Barber Motorsports Park, capping off the strongest weekend of his young career. The crew worked hard after a trying outing at Road America in Elkhart Lake, which made this result at Barber Motorsports Park an even more meaningful accomplishment.
"Logan demonstrated tremendous growth and has continued to develop as a driver," Skip Barber Racing Team Manager Gabriel Gonzalez said. "It was great to see Logan battling at the front of the field, and seeing him capture that podium finish was great, not only for him, but for our team. We've seen the effort he has put into this season, and seeing it produce a result like this is what keeps us all coming back."
Anderson began Race 1 from the third row of the grid and managed the often hectic midfield start with poise before settling into position on the cusp of the top five. He then rose through the order as the race developed in his No. 25 Empowered Healing Acura Integra Type S.
A late-race safety car while Anderson was running second brought the field together and set up a one-lap shootout to the checkered flag. With his first victory in front of him, Anderson hounded the race leader into the heavy braking zone of Turn 4 before settling into second through the track's twisty and narrow second sector. The Californian crossed beneath the checkered flag just 0.565 seconds behind the winning car, but still placed an exclamation mark on his weekend with a podium finish.
With Anderson's podium finish, he further solidifies his standing in the Drivers' Championship and Skip Barber Racing's position in the Teams' Championship. The team's Acura Integra showcased its straight-line potential, and with Indianapolis Motor Speedway and its long straightaways on the horizon, the team is optimistic about ending the season on a high note.
Unfortunately, engine gremlins left Dean Lambros' No. 7 Acura Integra Type S on the sidelines this weekend, but the team is confident that Lambros will return to action for the season finale.
