Our Mustang GT school fleet is exposed to drivers of all skill levels. Drivers often come to us with limited experience driving a manual transmission. Needless to say, the transmissions in our school cars are put through the wringer on a daily basis. Between high RPM upshifts and big heel-toe downshifts, when it came time to update our fleet, the choice was clear: Tremec Magnum XL 6-speed. 
The Magnum XL combines brute strength and engineering sophistication with bolt-in ease. The transmission is equipped with an SFI approved steel bellhousing and uses the factory hydraulic clutch release system. This ease of installation allowed us to efficiently update the entire Mustang GT fleet from the OE 5 speed. 
One of the key modules of our Hagerty Driving Academy is learning how to drive manual transmission in a 1967 Camaro. When we introduced the Camaro to our fleet, we knew the original 4-speed was not going to cut it for this use. Tremec recommended we look at their newly release TKX 5-speed. 
Developed as a successor to their undeniably successful TKO 5-speed, the TKX was the perfect fit - offering torque capacity well above what our Camaro could produce (600lb-ft) and 3 shifter locations meant we would have a transmission that could handle the abuse of new drivers and retain the factory shifter location!
