Skip Barber Race Series champion Sebastian Wheldon will continue his rise through the open when racing ranks and advance into the FIA Formula Regional European Championship. Last season in Italian Formula 4, Wheldon claimed six wins and finished third in the driver’s standings. Among those wins were victories in the opening race of the 2025 season at Misano World Circuit and wins at Vallelunga and Monza. Wheldon capped off his season with an additional three wins at Misano in the final weekend. As he did last year, Wheldon will drive for Prema Racing, a staple of junior formula competition. Wheldon’s 2023 season in the Skip Barber Race Series included 13 podium finishes in 16 races with six victories. After one season in USF Juniors, Wheldon moved across the Atlantic to advance his career in Europe. “It feels great to be back with PREMA and to move up to FIA FREC this year,” Wheldon said. “We had a really good first season, winning races in Formula 4, and I’m looking forward to what we can accomplish in 2026! I feel adjusted to the European environment and feel at home within the team. I want to thank TWG Motorsports for continuing to support me. Excited for what’s ahead!” Wheldon is backed by TWG Motorsports, the brand which owns Andretti Global, Cadillac Formula 1 Team, and Spire Motorsports among other racing teams. Sebastian’s younger brother Oliver Wheldon also won the Skip Barber Race Series title, achieving the feat one year after his older brother.
