Race Series Champion Sebastian Wheldon Enters FIA Formula 3!

Skip Barber Race Series champion Sebastian Wheldon will continue his ascent through the ranks of formula car racing next season and compete in FIA Formula 3 with TRIDENT. Wheldon, who began his post-karting career with Skip Barber as a member of Andretti Autosport’s Driver Development Program, won six races in the 2023 Skip Barber Race Series season.

He then spent one season in USF Juniors before moving abroad to compete in the F4 Middle East Championship and the Italian F4 Championship. In Italy, he won six races and finished third in the Drivers’ Standings with victories at Misano, Vallelunga, and Monza. This season, Wheldon competed in the Formula Regional European Championship, where he finished second in the full-season championship with victories at Zandvoort, Circuit Paul Ricard, and Hockenheim.

“I’m very happy to be competing in the 2027 FIA Formula 3 Championship with TRIDENT Motorsport,” Wheldon said. “There’s a lot of pressure, as I’ll be racing for one of the most successful teams in the category. However, I love a challenge and will give my all to learn quickly and achieve good results. I’m extremely grateful to TWG Motorsports and Andretti Global for their support. I can’t wait for next season to begin. Let’s go!”

The 2027 FIA Formula 3 calendar kicks off with races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia before following Formula 1 to Australia, Canada, and multiple European rounds.
