Saturday, January 07, 2006 HOMESTEAD, Fla. – In the first of two heat races prior to the Regional Run-off “A Main” tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon, Alexander Rossi snatched the lead from polesitter Craig Duerson at the beginning of the last lap and then held off Alex Doman for the victory. Drive of the race was from Jonathan Frost: he started dead last (14th) and finished fourth. Where each driver finished today’s race is their starting spot for the second heat race. Each driver’s total points from the two heat races then determines the starting grid for the Sunday “A Main.”
On the next to last lap, Rossi (#29) ducks under Duerson (#70) going into Turn One, a 120-mph dive into the infield section.
