Josef Newgarden got just one good lap in -- his last -- during qualifying for Sunday's race. That single lap got him the pole, his fifth consecutive (going back to Mosport's race-two qualifying). This is Newgy at the apex of Turn Eight.
ELKHART LAKE, Wis. – BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda points leader Josef Newgarden took his fifth consecutive pole position in qualifying for Road America's race two. Erstwhile points leader Felipe Polehtto was off Newgy's time by 2/10s, ahead of Conor Daly and Connor De Phillippi. The year's first woman driver, Ashley Freiberg, qualified sixth, behind Stevan McAleer but ahead of Fabio Orsolon, third in points behind Newgarden and Polehtto.
