Marco Di Leo in the middle of America's ''other'' corkscrew -- Turns 14 and 15 at VIR -- during second practice.
ALTON, Va. – With the predicted heavy rains still missing the track, the second SBN practice session showed a new leader, but overall the track was slower and the lap times reflected that. Marco Di Leo was more than a second slower than he had been in the morning, but his 2:10.428 was still the quickest in the last practice session before qualifying for race one. Chris Wehrheim showed his earlier time – fastest with a 2:09.111 – was not a flash in the pan. Turns out Wehrheim’s had a bunch of seat time in Grand-Am Cup cars here at VIR and it is serving him well. If it rains during qualifying this afternoon, he just might spank the field and sit on pole by a wide margin, predicts Di Leo.
