This weekend, alumni of the Skip Barber Racing School took home a victory in Porsche Carrara Cup North America, topped the charts in USF 2000 test sessions, and snatched the championship lead in USF Juniors after winning two races in one weekend. Reigning Skip Barber Race Series champion Ivan Machado Perez claimed a pair of victories, a third-place finish, and a pole position at Carolina Motorsports Park. With another 91 points to his name, Perez leapfrogged to the championship lead with six races in the books. Elsewhere in USF, 2024 Skip Barber Race Series champion Oliver Wheldon topped the charts in a USF 2000 test session at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Fellow alumni Teddy Musella, who completed Advanced Coaching with Skip Barber, was fastest in Session 1 and added a pair of second-place times in two other sessions. Further up the open wheel racing ladder, Skip Barber graduate Kyle Kirkwood was fourth in the NTT IndyCar Series race from Long Beach. Alumni Graham Rahal (8th) and Alexander Rossi (9th) also finished in the top ten. The IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship was also at Long Beach where Skip Barber alumni Aaron Telitz was victorious in GT Daytona. Telitz shared the podium with Patrick Gallagher and Robby Foley, a pair of alumni who drove their Turner Motorsports BMW to a second-place result in GTD. Also competing on the streets of Long Beach was Porsche Carrara Cup North America where alumni Marco Cirone won the opening race of the weekend in the Master’s Class. Cirone also finished third in Race 2. In the Pro class, Aaron Jeansonne, a graduate of the Three Day Racing School, was second in both races while Connor Bloum added a top-five finish to the long list of accolades from Skip Barber graduates. Finally, the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series visited Kansas Speedway where graduates Bubba Wallace (5th) and Chris Buescher (10th) finished in the top ten. On Saturday, Brandon Jones was eighth in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. Also at Kansas Speedway was the ARCA Menards Series where former Skip Barber Race Series competitor Dystany Spurlock finished tenth in her ARCA national series debut.
