Skip Barber Racing School alumni claimed victories at Kansas Speedway and Indianapolis Motor Speedway in a Mother’s Day weekend that highlighted the wide range of racing that Skip Barber’s graduates compete in. The first strike came from alumni Jack Jeffers who delivered a stellar performance from the Brickyard to win the opening race of the USF2000 weekend. Fellow Skip Barber graduate Caleb Gafrarar joined Jeffers in the top five of Race 1. In Race 2, Jeffers added another podium finish to his weekend. The presence of Skip Barber Racing School alumni was felt all the way throughout the weekend as Myles Rowe earned a pair of third place finishes in Indy NXT. After two, top five finishes, to open the year, Rowe sits third in the overall standings. The 24-year-old is one of just two drivers with top five finishes in every race of the season. In Sunday’s main event at IMS, Skip Barber Race Series alumni Kyle Kirkwood finished eighth for Andretti Global. Meanwhile, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series took to Kansas Speedway’s 1.5-mile oval for a Saturday night showdown where Skip Barber alumni Carson Hocevar took home the win. The Spire Motorsports driver also added a win in Stage 2 to his performance. This was Hocevar’s first win in the Truck Series since moving to a full-time role in Cup Series in 2024. Fellow graduate Jake Garcia started the 134-lap race from the pole and finished seventh. Alumni Brandon Jones was sixth. In the NASCAR Cup Series, graduates Alex Bowman (5th), Josh Berry (6th), Chris Buescher (8th), Joey Logano (9th), and John Hunter Nemechek (10th) finished in the top ten. This week, the Skip Barber Race Series is in action from VIRginia International Raceway on Tuesday and Wednesday while the NTT IndyCar Series will begin practice for the 109th Indianapolis 500. One-third of this year’s field are Skip Barber Racing School graduates including reigning winner Josef Newgarden who will attempt a three-peat.
