INDYCAR: Skip Barber alumni Helio Castroneves made history this past weekend as he would win his fourth Indy 500. In the closing laps, Castroneves and Alex Palou traded the top spot but with 2 laps to go, Castroneves made a daring pass on the outside in Turn 1 and held off Palou by .4928 of a second. He celebrated in usual fashion by climbing the fence to salute the 135,000 fans in attendance, the largest attended sporting event since the start of the pandemic. Castroneves joins an elite list of 4-time winners of the historic event including A.J. Foyt, Rick Mears and Al Unser Sr. NASCAR: John Hunter Nemechek, Skip Barber alumni, grabs his third win of the season at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Nemechek and fellow Skip Barber graduate, Carson Hocevar, battled for the lead in the final 10-laps but it would be Nemechek crossing the line first piloting his No. 4 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota Tundra. 
A pair of Skip Barber alumni Austin Cindric and Harrison Burton finish on the podium in the NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Cindric and Burton finish second and third after the 200-lap race. Cindric, last year’s XFINITY Series Champion, takes over the top spot in the points standings over Burton by 84-points. In the longest race on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule, Kyle Busch drives his No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Camry to a third-place finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Skip Barber alumni made up a lot of ground in the 600-mile race after qualifying 20th and ended the night as the highest finishing Toyota driver and it would mark his fifth Top-5 finish of the season.
