Four different Skip Barber Racing School alumni scored their career-best finish at a NASCAR road course event this weekend. In the NASCAR Cup Series, Bubba Wallace netted a season-best second-place result while Parker Retzlaff and Brendan Queen each set a new mark for road course results. Queen has now improved his finishing position in each of the three road course races that the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series has completed this season.
The headline result for Skip Barber Racing School alumni in San Diego was Austin Hill‘s triumph in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race on Saturday. This was Hill’s second win of the 2026 season, his first since the season-opening race at Daytona, and his first victory on a road course. Fellow graduate Sammy Smith (5th) also finished in the top-five.
In the NASCAR Cup Series race, Wallace was joined in the top-ten by AJ Allmendinger (5th), Chris Buescher (6th), Ross Chastain (7th), and Michael McDowell (10th). The final accomplishment from NASCAR’s debut weekend at Naval Base Coronado was Christian Eckes, who finished ninth in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race.
At Road America, Skip Barber Race Series champion Oliver Wheldon finished on the podium in USF2000 before adding a top-five finish to close out the weekend. Fellow Skip Barber Race Series competitor Ryan Giannetta was seventh in Race 1 and Race 2. In USF Pro 2000, alumni Teddy Musella also scored a pair of seventh-place finishes with Tyke Durst (10th) joining him in the top ten of Race 1.
In Indy NXT, Myles Rowe finished fifth while Alexander Rossi was the highest-finishing alumni in the NTT IndyCar Series race with a sixth-place result. Santino Ferrucci (9th) and Kyle Kirkwood (10th) rounded out the top ten.
Finally, Ari Balogh scored a victory in the IMSA Airbnb Challenge from VIRginia International Raceway while Greg Herback finished fourth in the Masters Class of Porsche Sprint Challenge North America.
