Six Skip Barber Racing School alumni finished in the top ten of Friday night’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race from Bristol Motor Speedway, including NASCAR Cup Series regulars Ross Chastain (4th), Kyle Busch (8th), and Carson Hocevar (9th). Graduate Chandler Smith was second, his best finish of the season since winning the opening race from Daytona. Christian Eckes was fifth and added a Stage 1 victory to his weekend’s scorecard while Jake Garcia notched his season-best finish with a sixth-place result. In the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race on Saturday, alumni Connor Zilisch returned to his former stomping grounds and delivered another victory for JR Motorsports. Fellow graduate Parker Retzlaff was ninth in the NOAPS race. Finally, on Sunday alumni Todd Gilliland delivered the best finish of Skip Barber’s roster with a sixth-place result. That was Gilliland’s best non-Superspeedway result since last year’s Brickyard 400. Graduates Joey Logano (7th), Carson Hocevar (10th), and Bubba Wallace (11th) also finished in the top half of the order. Hocevar and Wallace both trained in Skip Barber’s Advanced Coaching program. Meanwhile, at Sonoma Raceway, alumni Mark Crigler secured a pair of second-place finishes in Porsche Sprint Challenge West while fellow graduate Greg Herback added a victory in the Cayman class. In Porsche Endurance Challenge, Andrew Davis captured the victory in the Cayman Pro-Am class while Charlie Hayes was second in GT3 Cup Pro-Am. Lastly, graduate Dennis Kelly was second in the first race of the Radical Cup North America weekend. Kelly and Herback both completed the Skip Barber Racing School’s Two-Day Advanced program while Hayes began with our One Day Racing School.
