Multiple Skip Barber Racing School alumni captured victories at Road America during the GT World Challenge, America weekend including Robby Foley and Justin Rothberg who won the weekend’s main event overall. Graduates Foley and Rothberg combined forces to pilot their Turner Motorsports BMW M4 GT3 to a four-second victory over fellow Skip Barber alumni Michai Stephens.
A pair of races in GT4 America this weekend gave alumni plenty of opportunities to find success and many took full advantage of that. Michael Cooper’s victory in the Pro-Am class of Race 1 and Westin Workman’s runner-up result in Silver stood out among the pack. Yves Baltas (5th in Race 1 and 2nd in Race 2), Roland Krainz (3rd in Race 1 and 5th in Race 2), and Judson Holt (4th in Race 1 and Race 2) all scored double top-five finishes. Michael Petramalo’s fourth-place result in the Pro-Am class of Race 2 rounded out the success for Skip Barber alumni.
That success continued into McLaren Trophy, America where Cooper Broll and Collin Harrison split the two victories in the Am class with Broll winning in Race 1 and Harrison capturing the top honors in Race 2. Graduate Randy Highland was third in the Pro-Am class of both McLaren Trophy, America races.
Michael Edwards’ seventh-place finish in Race of the Toyota GR Cup North America weekend was the best result for Skip Barber alumni in the one-make, spec-series. Beltre Curtis, meanwhile, was tenth in Race 2. In TC America powered by the Skip Barber Racing School, Logan Anderson matched his season-best result with a fourth-place finish while Andre Castro netted two podiums.
Meanwhile, just down the road in Milwaukee, the NTT IndyCar Series, Indy NXT, and USF Pro 2000 series’ were in action. There, Josef Newgarden’s seventh-place finish was bested by Max Taylor’s fourth-place result at the 122-year-old speedway. Brady Golan was ninth in the USF Pro 2000 race, moving up one spot in the full-season standings to seventh.
Finally, the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series were in Daytona for the final race before the Chase. Six Skip Barber alumni found top-ten finishes in the Cup Series race with Michael McDowell (4th), Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (5th), Austin Cindric (6th), Austin Dillon (7th), Alex Bowman (8th), and Josh Berry (9th).
In the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race, alumni Austin Hill (2nd), Anthony Alfredo (4th), Brandon Jones (5th), Harrison Burton (8th), and Jeb Burton (9th) finished in the top ten. That fourth-place result from Alfredo matches his season-best finish.
