Skip Barber Racing School graduate Josef Newgarden returned from the NTT IndyCar Series’ summer break with a bang, winning the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 from World Wide Technology Raceway. Meanwhile, Skip Barber Racing School alumni Tyler Reddick emerged victorious at Michigan International Speedway and moved into the lead of the NASCAR Cup Series standings. Headlined by Reddick, 53% of the top fifteen in Monday’s FireKeepers Casino 400 are graduates of the Skip Barber Racing School. Standouts included alumni Zane Smith, who finished seventh, his second-best result of the season, and Carson Hocevar who scored his second-consecutive top ten finish. Other graduates in the top fifteen were Kyle Busch (4th), Chris Buescher (6th), Noah Gragson (12th), Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (13th), and Harrison Burton (14th). Skip Barber Racing School alumni found similar success in the NASCAR Xfinity Series where graduates locked out 50% of the top ten led by John Hunter Nemechek’s third-place result and Anthony Alfredo’s fourth-place finish. Graduates Gragson (6th), Sammy Smith (8th), and AJ Allmendinger (10th) completed the group. At Gateway, Skip Barber Racing School alumni Sting Ray Robb scored his first-career NTT IndyCar Series top ten with a ninth place run. Andretti Autosport’s Colton Herta finished fifth in the race and is second in the NTT IndyCar Series Championship Standings. In Wisconsin, SRO America descended upon Road America for an action-packed weekend of sportscar racing. Among the standout performances from Skip Barber Racing School graduates were Robby Foley and Bryan Sellers who each scored class victories in GT World Challenge America. Alumni Hannah Greenmeier, David Peterman, and Lee Carpentier all left Road America with a pair of top five finishes in their respective classes of GT4 America. In Toyota GR Cup North America, former Skip Barber Race Series competitor Jaxon Bell finished second in a rain-soaked race on Saturday. Graduate Westin Workman netted himself a pair of top five finishes and alumni Mia Lovell was seventh in Race 2. Skip Barber Racing’s Alex Garcia was leading Race 1 in the final moments before being collected in an incident. In TC America powered by the Skip Barber Racing School, Skip Barber Racing’s own Celso Neto swept the weekend with a pair of victories in the No. 22 Skip Barber Racing School Acura Integra Type S. His Skip Barber Racing teammate Cooper Broll was third in Race 1. Alumni Christopher DeFreitas finished on the podium in Race 2. This weekend, the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship visits VIRginia International Raceway, the home track of Skip Barber. Formula 1 and Skip Barber Racing School graduate Sergio Perez will conclude its summer break with the Dutch Grand Prix from Zandvoort. The NTT IndyCar Series heads west for a visit to Portland International Raceway. Lastly, the Skip Barber Race Series is in action at Lime Rock Park on Wednesday and Thursday.
