Skip Barber Racing School graduates secured top-three finishes in two separate hemispheres over the weekend, with Kyle Busch’s 2nd-place result from the Clash at the Coliseum narrowly besting Colin Braun’s podium in the Asian Le Mans Series from the Dubai Autodrome. Including Busch, three Skip Barber Racing School graduates finished in the top six of the Clash with Joey Logano (4th) and Alex Bowman (6th) rounding out the front of the field. With the Clash checked off the schedule, all eyes turn to the Daytona 500 where the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season officially begins and where a number of Skip Barber Racing School graduates will make their debuts with new teams. After a dominating season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, John Hunter Nemechek will make the leap to the Cup Series driving for Legacy Motor Club. Noah Gragson, meanwhile, will slot into the seat vacated by the retiring Aric Almirola at Stewart-Haas Racing. Spire Motorsports will carry a pair of rookies, both of whom are Skip Barber Racing School graduates: Carson Hocevar and Zane Smith. Showcasing the diversity of motorsports that Skip Barber Racing School graduates compete in, Colin Braun claimed his second LMP2 podium in as many weeks as he finished third in the Asian Le Mans Series’ 4 Hours of Dubai. That result follows his 2nd-place finish in the Rolex 24 at Daytona last week. Looking ahead to this weekend, the Asian Le Mans Series will run its final pair of races for the 2023/24 season at the Yas Marina Circuit. An automatic entry to the Le Mans 24 Hours is up for grabs for the championship winner in LMP2 and GT, and Braun’s Crowdstrike Racing team is within reach of the title and coveted Le Mans entry.
