Over the weekend, Skip Barber Racing School graduates claimed podium finishes in USF Juniors, took the lead of the NTT IndyCar Series standings, and become $100,000 richer in the NASCAR Xfinity Series’ Dash 4 Cash. Skip Barber Racing School graduates AJ Allmendinger (6th) and Chandler Smith (7th) were the highest finishers in Saturday’s BetRivers 200 from Dover Motor Speedway. It was alumni Anthony Alfredo who stole the show, however. With his ninth-place finish, Alfredo secured the Xfinity Dash 4 Cash’s $100,000 prize for himself and Our Motorsports. Alfredo and Our Motorsports’ single-car effort is off to an incredible start in 2024 with five top-five finishes through the first ten races of the season. On Sunday, Skip Barber Racing School graduates filled nearly 50% of the top fifteen in the NASCAR Cup Series’ Würth 400, led by Kyle Busch (4th), Noah Gragson (6th), and Alex Bowman (8th). Gragson jumped six spots in the NASCAR Cup Series’ standings after Sunday’s race, the biggest gain of any driver in the field. Alumni Tyler Reddick (11th), Ross Chastain (12th), AJ Allmendinger (13th), and Austin Cindric (15th) completed the front half of the grid. In Alabama, the NTT IndyCar Series, Indy NXT, and USF Juniors field took to Barber Motorsports Park for a full slate of races. With consistent finishes to open their seasons’ graduates Colton Herta and reigning Skip Barber Race Series champion Sebastian Wheldon lead the NTT IndyCar and USF Juniors championships, respectively. Alumni Jack Jeffers finished Race 1 of the USF Juniors weekend with a strong second place after starting third. In Race 2, Wheldon mimicked Jeffers with a third-place start that he converted to a second-place finish. Former Skip Barber Race Series driver Jeshua Alianell gained nine spots in Race 2, ending his USF Juniors’ debut weekend on a high note. On Sunday, Indy NXT opened the day’s festivities with graduate Myles Rowe earning his second top-ten of the season with a sixth-place finish. Skip Barber Race Series instructor Michael d’Orlando finished the day in seventh, he leaves Barber Motorsports Park tied for fourth in the Indy NXT standings. Finally, Skip Barber Racing School graduate Santino Ferruci finished the Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix in seventh, his second top-ten of the season. Andretti Autosport’s Kyle Kirkwood completed the top ten. Next weekend, Formula 1 and Skip Barber alumni Sergio Perez return to the United States for the Miami Grand Prix and the NASCAR Cup Series will visit Kansas Speedway.
