Dennis Trebing storms toward the pole for Race 2
Braselton, Ga. (Sept. 24) – After Scott Sharp’s big crash during ALMS open practice this afternoon (he climbed out uninjured) took down a big section of catch fence, shutting down the track for approximately 90 minutes this afternoon, officials from the BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda were forced to swap this afternoon’s scheduled Race 1 and tomorrow morning’s scheduled Race 2 Qualifying. At the end of a session shortened by the fading daylight, Dennis Trebing scored his first pole in Skip Barber National competition. The MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development driver clocked in with a 1:34.498 sec. lap early in the session that held up for pole. Joining Trebing on the front row is Spencer Pigot, who missed the quick lap by .150 sec. Point leader Connor De Phillippi and Sage Karam make up the second row with local driver Sean Rayhall rounding out the top five, .327 sec. back from Trebing. Court Vernon, second in points, will again start from the sixth position; .024 out of the top five. With the schedule shuffle, Race 1 of the weekend will take the green flag tomorrow (Friday) morning at 7:40 AM while Race 2 will run starting at 11:25 AM.
