With four races left in the season, just three points separate Skip Barber Race Series championship-leader Dean Lambros and Andretti Autosport Junior Development Driver Oliver Wheldon. Wheldon, on a streak of six-consecutive wins, has narrowed the gap from its widest margin of 25 points. Lambros, however, has limited Wheldon’s gains by finishing on the podium in all of the races where Wheldon has claimed victory. The field now heads to Lime Rock Park, the shortest track on the calendar, for a pair of races that will be pivotal in determining the 2024 Skip Barber Race Series champion. In the Master’s Class, two victories from Thomas Tarlton at Road America has increased his lead over his twin brother Rob Tarlton, putting him on the doorstep of the Master’s Class title. Caleb Campbell, whose eye-catching race starts at Road America helped him to one podium finish and a sixth-place finish, sits fifth in the standings. After a strong debut at Road America where he passed three cars in Race 2, Matan Achituv will return to the Skip Barber Race Series at Lime Rock Park with a top ten result already in-hand. One driver in particular will be carrying a great deal of momentum on his side, that being Alan Orzynski whose steady improvement and development with the Skip Barber Race Series helped him to his first-career podium finish. It was a terrific result for him and one that has placed him within striking distance of sixth place in the overall standings. Thomas Nordquist will be one of just four drivers with prior experience at Lime Rock Park. He is coming off a top five finish in the Championship Class at Road America and is poised for a solid run as he looks to chase down the aforementioned Orzynski in the ever-evolving midfield. Jack Mohrhardt’s home race of Road America treated him well with two top ten finishes on the weekend and like Nordquist will seek to shake up the midfield at the 1.53-mile course. After competing with Skip Barber Racing at Road America, Alex Garcia will continue his busy August by returning to the Skip Barber Race Series with another pair of podium finishes in TC America powered by the Skip Barber Racing School and a stellar outing in Toyota GR Cup North America. Garcia was minutes away from winning the Toyota GR Cup Race after storming to the front in torrential rain.
