This weekend, the storied Skip Barber Race Series visits New York’s Finger Lakes region and Watkins Glen International for a doubleheader that could prove vital in determining the 2025 champion. Four different drivers have claimed victories through the first half of the season, with Spain’s Ivan Machado Perez leading the championship standings. This will be the series’ first visit to Watkins Glen since 2022, meaning the drivers will take their first laps around the historic 3.450-mile circuit in the Skip Barber Formula Car on Friday. Mastering the course will be key to reaching the top step of the podium by Sunday. The Skip Barber Race Series will run alongside Trans-Am this weekend, where Chris Dyson is the reigning race winner. Dyson, a familiar name at the front of the Trans-Am grid, began his motorsports career in the Skip Barber Race Series. Among the drivers aiming to write the first chapter of their racing careers with success at Skip Barber are Chris Spada and Alan Orzynski. Orzynski’s 62-point haul from VIRginia International Raceway vaulted him to third in the championship standings. Just ahead of Orzynski is Chris Spada, whose pair of victories at NOLA Motorsports Park kickstarted a phenomenal rookie campaign that continues into the second half of the season. Logan Anderson is coming off a fifth-place finish at VIR, the best result of his Skip Barber Race Series career. Anderson has now set a new personal best finish at every round this season. Trevor LaTourrette, who earned a fourth-place result in his last outing, is another driver to watch as the season enters its second half. Two drivers will make their season debuts at Watkins Glen, including one making his first-ever start in the Skip Barber Race Series. Nicholas DeLucia, who debuted at Sebring International Raceway in 2024, returns to the grid. He is joined by Scott Pyle, who will make his inaugural start in the series. The last time the NTT IndyCar Series visited Watkins Glen, Skip Barber Race Series alumni Alexander Rossi claimed the victory and at this year’s Six Hours of the Glen, graduate Colin Braun took the overall win.
