Skip Barber Racing’s Alex Garcia and Michael Garcia added a third podium finish to their stellar rookie season in GT4 America. The brothers combined to earn a third-place result from Barber Motorsports Park, ending the triple-header weekend on a high note. Additionally, the duo is now just eight points behind third-place in the GT4 America Am Driver’s Championship, as is Skip Barber Racing in the GT4 America Am Team’s Championship. Alex and Michael Garcia drove the No. 07 PolePace Aston Martin Vantage GT4 to a pair of fifth-place finishes in the opening two races, the first of which counted as a makeup for the weather-delayed race at Road America. It was in the final race of the weekend where the team flexed its muscles. A late-race restart left 17-minutes on the clock for Michael Garcia to navigate through the heart of the field. In 11 laps, Michael drove from sixth to third in-class. His efforts left the team with a twelfth-place finish in the overall standings, their best result since their victory at Sonoma Raceway in the opening round of the season. The season finale will see the brothers return to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where they made their debut together in GT4 America last season. There, they ended the season with a sixth-place finish after gaining two positions. In TC America powered by the Skip Barber Racing School, James Klimas drove the No. 61 Middletown Toyota GR Corolla TC to a fifth-place finish in Race 1. Klimas gained three spots in the 25-minute race. This was Klimas’ best result since a fifth-place finish at VIRginia International Raceway earlier in the season. His efforts saw him climb one spot in the TC America Driver’s Championship and further solidified Skip Barber Racing’s spot in third in the Team’s Championship. Skip Barber Racing’s McLaren Trophy, America duo of Cooper Broll and Tommy Pintos will return to the fold at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the next scheduled, and final, round of the inaugural season of MTA on October 16 – 19.
