Skip Barber Racing successfully completed the longest race of its 2024 program with a strong showing in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge O’Reilly Auto Parts Four Hours of Mid-Ohio. The already-talented lineup of 2024 IMSA Diverse Driver Development Scholarship winner Ken Fukuda and experienced racer Will Lambros, was made even stronger with the addition of Celso Neto. Neto, who was making his IMSA debut, joined the team for the four-hour race in addition to his regular duties with Skip Barber Racing’s TC America program. With a field of forty cars set to share the tight confines of Mid-Ohio’s undulating 2.258 miles, keeping things clean would be a key part of the four-hour race. After a strong effort in qualifying, Ken Fukuda was the first to take the controls of the No. 16 Skip Barber Racing School Aston Martin, successfully navigating around traffic on the initial start and an early restart. After completing his stint and gaining one position, Fukuda handed the car to Celso Neto for the Brazilian’s first true taste of IMSA competition. Neto would spend the next one hour and forty-five minutes in the car, three times as long as his usual TC America races. After completing his 63-lap stint, Neto passed the controls to Will Lambros for the final hour. Like his teammates, Lambros completed a clean stint and brought the No. 16 Skip Barber Racing School Aston Martin home 19th, capping off a smooth and consistent weekend. Celso Neto: “My IMSA debut with Skip Barber Racing was an incredible experience. It was my first time behind the wheel of the Aston Martin and my first time at Mid-Ohio as well. Some great results for myself personally and for the team. A huge thanks to Ken Fukuda, Will Lambros, and everyone with Skip Barber Racing for the great weekend.” Will Lambros: “We had a great weekend here at Mid-Ohio. I can’t thank the team enough for their effort. The car got better and better after each session, and we just kept on improving and fine-tuning things. By the time I got in the car for the final stint Ken and Celso put us in a great spot, so I knew I just had to bring it home for the guys.” Ken Fukuda: “I’m so fortunate to have the Skip Barber Racing School team give me such a great car this weekend weekend. Everyone at SBRS came into this weekend feeling confident after a strong outing at Laguna Seca and we’re leaving Mid-Ohio just as confident but also incredibly proud.
