Skip Barber Racing will enter Circuit of the Americas this weekend with an early season win to its name and within striking distance of the GT4 America Championship lead. Ahead for the team this weekend is a three-hour endurance round for brothers Alex and Michael Garcia in the No. 07 PolePace Aston Martin Vantage GT4 and a triple-header of races for Cooper Broll and Tommy Pintos in McLaren Trophy, America. GT4 America The season’s opening round at Sonoma Raceway saw Alex and Michael earn their first victory in GT4 America. Michael navigated challenging conditions on the drying track to climb up the leaderboard and put the No. 07 PolePace Aston Martin Vantage on the top step of the podium. Looking ahead, this weekend’s three-hour race at Circuit of the Americas will be the longest of their career, placing an emphasis on physical strength as mother nature looks poised to bring abnormally warm temperatures, with a chance of rain, to the weekend. “I’m excited to head to Circuit of the Americas for the next round of the GT4 America season,” Michael said. “After a successful weekend and steady progress getting comfortable with the Aston Martin Vantage, I’m feeling confident and motivated to keep building on that momentum.” TC America powered by the Skip Barber Racing School In addition to his victory in GT4 America, Michael Garcia’s dream start to the season extended to TC America powered by the Skip Barber Racing School where he earned a podium in his debut race. The Floridian drove the No. 07 PolePace Acura Integra Type S to a second-place finish and added a top five result in Race 2 to his weekend. Also, in the Skip Barber Racing stable this season is the all-new Toyota GR Corolla TC piloted by James Klimas. The team recently completed a multi-day test with the No. 61 Middletown Toyota GR Corolla, gaining an even greater understanding of the new platform and boosting the team’s confidence heading into Circuit of the Americas. “I’m looking forward to one of my favorite tracks on the calendar,” Klimas said. “I’m excited to get behind the wheel of the GR Corolla as Toyota and SRO continue to fine tune it to be balanced against the competition. I’ve got my fingers crossed for good weather as well!” Skip Barber Racing is currently second in the TC America Team’s Championship after two races. McLaren Trophy, America Cooper Broll and Tommy Pintos will face a trio of races at Circuit of the Americas in McLaren Trophy, America. Heavy rain in Sonoma caused Race 2 of the opening round to be delayed to this weekend in Texas. Broll and Pintos finished second in the Pro class in Race 1 and Race 2 and will look to claim the top spot at COTA. “I’m looking forward to COTA,” Broll said. “I have a lot of time in the seat at the track, so I feel good about the three races we will be having. I’ve been training and preparing a lot, trying to be prepared to get the results I know we’re capable of. We have a very strong team and a strong car, and now there’s a chance to show it,” Broll explained. Pintos, from Spain, is the 2023 champion of McLaren Trophy, Europe and is a member of McLaren’s Graduate Factory program. He and Broll will share the No. 919 PiedParker McLaren Artura Trophy Evo. “We’re heading into the next round of McLaren Trophy, America with excitement and determination, as we take on the legendary Circuit of The Americas,” Pintos said. “The whole team has been working hard in preparation for this meeting. Toyota GR Cup North America The final Skip Barber Racing entry will be piloted by Alex Garcia, who like his brother Michael, will be completing double duty this weekend. Garcia is coming off an impressive top ten finish in Race 2 at Sonoma where he climbed from 25th to ninth. His efforts yielded the series’ Hard Charger Award. With a points-paying finish in California to his name, Garcia sits 14th out of 31 drivers in the overall standings.
