The Skip Barber Racing School is proud to unveil a new partnership with Margay Racing and their spec Ignite Karting program. As part of this partnership, Skip Barber Racing School will integrate elements of its longtime partnership with IMSA (International Motor Sports Association), including access to IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship events to select drivers in Ignite Karting. For nearly 50 years, the Skip Barber Racing School has been the premier training ground for motorsports’ most iconic names, including a wide variety of IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship veterans such as Ricky and Jordan Taylor, Connor De Phillippi, and Katherine Legge. Select competitors in Margay’s Ignite Challenge (regional) and Ignite Majors (national) will be granted VIP access to IMSA events as well as $6,000 in credit to be used towards a Skip Barber GT Racing School with the goal of creating a streamlined path for drivers from karting, through the Skip Barber Racing School’s robust training system, and into one of IMSA’s eight sanctioned series. “Driver training and development is at the heart of everything we do at the Skip Barber Racing School,” SBRS Chief Marketing Officer Dan DeMonte said. “Our schools, private coaching programs, and Skip Barber Race Series have been producing champions for half a century. Through our partnerships with both Margay and IMSA, we are creating a path that identifies prospective talent, extracts that potential, and allows them to flourish on the global motorsports’ stage.” Similar to the Skip Barber Race Series, the Margay Racing’s Ignite Karting provides a spec platform where a driver’s talent level determines their success. “We’re excited to kickstart Margay Racing’s 60th anniversary and Ignite Karting’s 10th anniversary with this new partnership with the Skip Barber Racing School,” Margay Racing owner Keith Freber said. “Margay and Ignite are focused on developing karters and preparing them to move up the racing ladder and Skip Barber is synonymous with developing championship-winning drivers across many forms of racing. “Look at the front of the grid at any IMSA race and that is where you will find the Skip Barber graduates. The Skip Barber Racing School is the natural progression for karters, and we feel our Ignite Karting program builds a foundation for success at Skip Barber and beyond,” Freber added. The new partnership will allow some of the nation’s top karters exclusive access to IMSA events. This access will provide racers the opportunity to learn more about IMSA and build connections in the paddock.
