Skip Barber Racing School graduates Austin Hill and Kyle Busch swept Saturday’s doubleheader from the Atlanta Motor Speedway with Hill claiming his second-consecutive victory to start the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series and Kyle Busch capturing his 65th NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win. Three out of the top five in the RAPTOR King of Tough 250 were Skip Barber Racing School graduates with Hill defending a late charge from fellow graduate Chandler Smith who ended his evening in second. Alumni Parker Retzlaff is off to a hot start in 2024 with back-to-back top-five finishes following a fifth-place result in Atlanta. Graduates Anthony Alfredo (7th) and Sammy Smith (10th) also finished in the top ten. Kyle Busch was 0.007 seconds away from securing his second win of the weekend, ending the Ambetter Health 400 in third after a dramatic, Hollywood-like, three-wide photo finish on Sunday night. It was still an impressive evening for Skip Barber Racing School graduates as Busch (3rd), Austin Cindric (4th), Bubba Wallace (5th), Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (6th), Ross Chastain (7th), Michael McDowell (8th), and Chris Buescher (9th) filled the top ten. In Bahrain, Formula 1 concluded its pre-season test with Skip Barber Racing School graduate Sergio Perez completing 182 laps over two days in preparation for the 2024 season set to begin this weekend. A short hop across the Persian Gulf brings us to Qatar where the World Endurance Championship will kick off its 2024 season at the Losail International Circuit. In addition to Formula 1 and Sergio Perez, the series where Perez, Josef Newgarden, Alexander Rossi, and many others got their start is slated to begin as the Skip Barber Race Series visits the historic Sebring International Raceway for a pair of races this week. Finally, the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series begin their West Coast swing with a visit to Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend.
