Skip Barber Goes Short Track Racing: Introducing Our Three Day Stock Car Racing School

One school. Two ways to race.

Skip Barber Racing School is bringing its approach to driver development to a new arena: short-track oval racing. Our new Three Day Stock Car Racing School puts you behind the wheel of a GMS Race Cars Pro Late Model at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Bullring, combining simulator training, progressive on-track instruction, and a final day featuring practice, qualifying, and a wheel-to-wheel race.

It’s a new way to experience Skip Barber—and an opportunity to discover what it takes to drive a purpose-built stock car.

Built to Race. Ready for You.

The GMS Pro Late Model brings an authentic oval racing experience to the school. With its low, wide body, racing slicks, and cockpit surrounded by a roll cage, this car was built for competition.

Throughout the program, you’ll learn how your inputs affect the car and how to turn that understanding into consistent laps. Braking, steering, and throttle application each play a role in getting the car through the corner and accelerating onto the straight.

The goal is to develop the skills to drive with precision, recognize where you can improve, and put your coaching into practice.

A Short Track With Plenty to Teach

The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway provides the setting for our newest Three Day Racing School.

On an oval, the course may look straightforward. Finding speed requires careful attention to your line, timing, and car control. Small changes in corner entry can affect the entire turn. How you apply the throttle on exit can influence your speed all the way down the next straight.

Repeated laps give you the opportunity to work on those details, build consistency, and understand how each part of the lap connects to the next.

Learn the Fundamentals. Put Them Into Practice.

The program combines simulator training with progressive instruction in the GMS Pro Late Model, allowing you to develop your understanding before applying it on track.

Simulator sessions introduce the oval racing environment and give you an opportunity to work on your approach to the lap. Behind the wheel, you’ll build on that preparation with instruction focused on racing line, braking, throttle control, and consistency.

As the school progresses, the focus expands from driving your own lap to understanding how to share the track with other cars. You’ll begin connecting car control with racecraft: reading the situation ahead, making decisions, and maintaining your rhythm as the track around you changes.

Bring It Together on the Final Day.

The final day gives you the opportunity to apply what you’ve learned through practice sessions, qualifying, and a wheel-to-wheel race.

Practice is your chance to refine your approach. Qualifying challenges you to bring your skills together in a focused lap. Racing adds another dimension as you put those skills to work alongside other drivers.

It’s the culmination of three days of learning—and your opportunity to experience the challenge of stock car competition.
