Thomas Nordquist will compete in the 2024 Skip Barber Race Series. Nordquist brings a unique combination of racing background and philanthropic efforts to the Skip Barber Racing School family. “Racing has always been a passion I’ve wanted to pursue as a career,” Nordquist said. “I’m excited to get out there and experience the highs and lows of racing, get into battles for positions, and improve my skills as a racing driver. “I knew Skip Barber was the right choice when I completed the three and two-day-advanced racing schools at Sebring. The amount of support, encouragement, and training I received was unlike any other. I am confident it will be a good season and a great start to a long career in this sport,” Nordquist added. Nordquist hails from a family of racers. His great-grandfather and grandfather were both auto mechanics who became involved in practically every form of motorsport including drag racing and endurance. Growing up, Nordquist deeply admired the passion, excitement, and knowledge they demonstrated which in turn helped to cultivate his own love for motorsports. In the summer of 2020, Thomas embarked on a unique philanthropic mission to Tanzania where his father, an oncologist in Nebraska, had developed a relationship with the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center. The KCMC explained to Thomas that patients struggled to find reliable transport to the center, and they were seeking funds to construct on-site residences for patients. Equipped with slideshow presentations and educational pamphlets, Thomas began contacting philanthropists in Tanzania in an effort to raise the funds needed to build the residence structure. In 2021, he was able to present the staff of the KCMC with a $100,000 donation for the construction of the housing unit. In Thomas’ spare time, he enjoys sim-racing, working on his 1993 Toyota Supra RZ, and is a sophomore at the Creighton University Heider College of Business. The 2024 Skip Barber Race Series begins on March 1 and will visit six iconic tracks across the United States for a total of 14 races. The champion will receive a $100,000 scholarship to advance to a USF-sanctioned series. Second place receives a full-season entry into the 2025 Skip Barber Race Series while third place receives a half season. In total, approximately $375,000 in prizes will be awarded in the 2024 Skip Barber Race Series.
