The Skip Barber Race Team scored three podiums in TC America powered by the Skip Barber Racing School in Sebring. The weekend was headlined by William Lambros who finished on the podium in both races of the doubleheader, including claiming the EBOOST SUPERFUEL Hard Charger Award in Race 2 after climbing multiple spots to snatch the final step of the podium. The weekend started strong for the team as Lambros in TCA and Celso Neto in TC laid down the fastest laps of Free Practice 1. The duo backed that up with strong efforts in qualifying that netted them spots on the outside of row one for the first race of the weekend. Race One was smooth and uneventful for our trio of drivers, a distinction that’s not often reached at a difficult track like Sebring International Raceway. Lambros, Neto, and Jeremiah Burton, all clocked in consistent laps with Burton ending Saturday with his fifth top-five finish in hand. For Neto, his third-place result marked his eighth podium of the season. “I’m super happy to have gotten a podium this past weekend at Sebring, especially with family and friends present for our home race,” Neto said, “We worked very hard, and together with everyone at Skip Barber we found a great setup that led to our second place in qualifying and third place in Race One. “Unfortunately, we had some technical issues in Race Two when we were catching second, leading to our 9th podium slipping away. That’s part of racing however, we’ll regroup as a team and be more than ready for Indianapolis in a few weeks’ time,” Neto explained. On Sunday, Lambros made quick work of those ahead and moved from his fifth-place starting position onto the provisional podium by the time the field of TCA cars had reached Turn One. He defended attacks from his outside and inside while keeping his Honda Civic SI FE1 under control after being hit by another competitor in the high-speed opening turn. Lambros quickly settled into a rhythm for the rest of the 40-minute sprint race, bringing the car home in third. “The weekend went great,” Lambros said. “We tested Friday on a different setup than we’ve been running, and we were first in both practice sessions. Race One was a really close race between Spencer Bucknum and me but we managed to pull off a second-place result. In Race Two I started last and made up a few spots to end up in third by the end of the day. “Sebring is an awesome track with a lot of history. I always loved racing there and it was great to score not one but two podiums throughout the SRO weekend,” Lambros added. While our TC America powered by the Skip Barber Racing School effort went smoothly, our GT4 America team was not as fortunate. Carter Fartuch and Matt Forbrush had their races ended early after being hit by other competitors in Race One and Race Two. The Skip Barber Race Team will return to the track in less than ten days at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the final two races of the season.
