Skip Barber Racing School alumni Westin Workman swept the opening weekend of the 2026 IMSA VP Racing Sportscar Challenge season, and seven fellow graduates joined Workman with top-five finishes in their respective classes. Success was not limited to Workman in the GSX class, as Brady Golan, Danny Soufi, and former Skip Barber Race Series driver Lincoln Day all scored podium finishes in P3. Brian Thienes’ fifth-place result in Race 1 marked the eleventh top-five finish for Skip Barber alumni across the weekend’s doubleheader. In GSX, Ismaeel Ellahi finished second in Race 1, while Sean Quinlan improved from a fourth-place finish in Race 1 to a podium result in Race 2. Lastly, Courtney Crone added another top-five finish to the tally for SBRS alumni. Looking ahead to this weekend, a staggering 61 Skip Barber Racing School graduates will take to the track across the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, and Mazda MX-5 Cup. Every American competing in the Rolex 24 at Daytona’s top class, GTP, is a Skip Barber alumni: Jordan Taylor, Ricky Taylor, Colton Herta, Colin Braun, Connor Zilisch, AJ Allmendinger, and Kaylen Frederick. Six Rolex 24 entries will be driven by pairs of graduates: the No. 96 Turner Motorsports BMW with Robby Foley and Patrick Gallagher; the No. 023 Triarsi Competizione Ferrari with Kenton Koch and Robert Megennis; the No. 1 Paul Miller Racing BMW of Neil Verhagen and Connor De Phillippi; the No. 40 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac with Taylor and Herta; and the No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura with Braun and Allmendinger. In the Michelin Pilot Challenge, a total of 32 alumni will compete in this weekend’s four-hour race. Twenty-six of those drivers will look to seize overall victory in the Grand Sport class, including former Skip Barber Race Series competitor Jaxon Bell, who will share the No. 23 Koch-Copeland Motorsports Toyota with fellow graduate Ford Koch. In TCR, former Skip Barber Racing driver Celso Neto—an IMSA Diverse Driver Development Scholarship winner—returns for another season in the ultra-competitive touring car class. Finally, graduate Gresham Wagner spearheads a group of eight Skip Barber alumni in the Mazda MX-5 Cup. Graduates Ryan Leach and Tristan McKee will make their series debuts this weekend. Workman, Justin Adakonis, John Salerno, Will Robinson, and Ethan Tyler round out the alumni competing in MX-5 Cup.
