Graduates of the Skip Barber Racing School finished on the podium in three different classes of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship Race from Road America this weekend, headlined by a class win for alumni Robby Foley and an overall podium from graduate Ricky Taylor. Alumni Madison Snow and Bryan Sellers finished the two-hour and forty-minute race second in GT Daytona Pro. That is the best finish of the season for the reigning champions in the Paul Miller Racing entry. In GT Daytona, the aforementioned Foley scored his first victory of the season, solidifying his position of second in the GTD Driver’s Championship. Graduate Steven McAleer added his best finish, and first podium, of the season to the list of accolades amassed by Skip Barber Racing School alumni over the weekend. Ricky Taylor also secured his first podium of the season with a strong run in the Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Acura ARX-06. Taylor, a former competitor of the Skip Barber National Series, set the fastest lap of the race by 0.864 seconds and was the only driver to go quicker than 1:51.000. Veteran Skip Barber Racing School instructor Mike Stillwagon finished second in Race 2 of the Ford Mustang Challenge weekend for Skip Barber Racing. That is the second podium of the season for Stillwagon, and he is second in the Dark Horse Legends standings following six consecutive top-five finishes to start the season. In IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, Skip Barber Racing School graduate Trent Hindman earned his second-consecutive victory. Also in Michelin Pilot Challenge, NASCAR Cup Series star Ross Chastain made his sportscar racing debut with Skip Barber Racing alongside Skip Barber Race Series Director Ken Fukuda. Chastain spent a race-high 31 laps at the controls of Skip Barber Racing’s GT4 entry and held the overall lead of the race in the closing minutes. While IMSA moves out of Road America, the Skip Barber Race Series will move in as it prepares for the next round of what has been an enticing 2024 season.
