A diverse entry list of drivers will form the grid for the next round of the 2025 Skip Barber Race Series at VIRginia International Raceway. This week, drivers will take on VIR’s North Course and with a closely matched field, every point will be crucial as the season prepares to eclipse its halfway point. Only two Skip Barber Race Series drivers have a margin that is more than 15 points to their next closest competitor, a testament to the competitiveness of the grid this season. There have been three unique winners in the Skip Barber Race Series this season, but none have matched the overall consistency of championship-leader Ivan Machado Perez. The Spainard is yet to finish off the podium this year and is the most recent victor. He earned his spot on the grid by virtue of his success in the Skip Barber Formula iRacing Series, a program that Skip Barber and iRacing are excited to once again offer this summer! Right on Perez’ heels is Chris Spada. Spada and Perez shared the podium in Race 2 at VIR’s South Course last time out, leaving a tantalizing week of racing on the North Course ahead. Brazil’s Naim Saleh and Mexico’s Alan Orzynski are matched in the standings with the tiebreaker going to Saleh courtesy of a second place finish last round. For Alan, his 2025 season is on-pace to be his best as he sits 19-points ahead of his total from last year at this mark of the season. The closely matched mid-field, with a pair of ties, seems poised for a significant shake-up this week. Keagan Day and Logan Anderson, who are separated by just 11 points, are also adding to the complexities of the standings. Anderson has improved his finishing position in every race this season while Day is coming off his career-best Skip Barber Race Series finish in the latest round. Rookie Grant Mitchell, however, will look to disrupt the momentum of Day and Anderson. This week will be Mitchell’s first career start at VIRginia International Raceway. He kick-started his Skip Barber Race Series season with a pair of top ten finishes at Sebring International Raceway. While Mother Nature threw challenging conditions at the drivers last time out, the forecasts for this week of racing seem more favorable. High temperatures, however, will test the drivers’ physical preparation and their tactfulness at keeping their tires in the optimal window.
