Ethan Booher swept the opening round of the 2025 Skip Barber Race Series with a pair of victories from Sebring International Raceway. The American driver, bolstered by his experience last season, held off a competitive field full of international talent to leave Sebring with the maximum number of points in hand. Spaniard Ivan Machado Perez, who earned his seat in the Skip Barber Race Series by virtue of the Skip Barber Racing School iRacing Shootout, got out to a fast start in Free Practice 1. The veteran sim-racer turned the quickest time of all on Wednesday morning. Booher, responded in Free Practice 2, besting Perez’ time by just 0.006 seconds, setting the stage for a thrilling qualifying session. In qualifying, Both Perez and Booher improved their times from practice with Booher nabbing pole position by 0.226 seconds. Naim Saleh, one of Brazil’s top karters, laid down a session-high seven laps as he came to grips with the Skip Barber Formula Car. Saleh’s efforts would net him a spot on the inside of the second row. With the grid set, it was time to wave the green flag on the 2025 Skip Barber Race Series season. Booher, with clean track ahead of him, drove out to a nearly four second advantage before Perez began to reel him back in. The gap shrunk in the race’s waning laps, but Booher remained steadfast and claimed his first Skip Barber Race Series victory. Perez and Saleh joined him on the podium.

Among the rookies with strong showings were Keagan Day and John O’Donnell, both of whom earned top five finishes in Race 1. Day spent his race locked in a fierce battle with Alan Orzynski. The pair swapped control of fifth place on multiple occasions. As Day, Orzynski, and O’Donnell battled, Chris Spada reeled in the trio, turning a three-car bout into a four-car scramble. Using the draft of the cars ahead, Spada set the race’s third fastest lap and quickly caught the back of Orzynski. The four drivers would cross beneath the checkered flag within 3.4 seconds of one another with Orzynski and Spada separated by just 0.204 seconds. O’Donnell, who ended Race 1 in fourth, claimed the first Hard Charger Award of the 2025 season. Rookies Logan Anderson and Grant Mitchell learned from each other throughout the race as both driver’s steadily improved their lap time as the race progressed. Anderson finished in ninth as Mitchell captured the final spot in the top ten, while Trevor LaTourrette completed a smooth drive to eighth.
