Seven different drivers claimed podium finishes over the course of the Skip Barber Race Series weekend at NOLA Motorsports Park including two who took home their first pieces of hardware. Among the notable milestones reached by drivers at NOLA was Ryan Giannetta scoring his first win in the Skip Barber Race Series, holding off multiple drivers in the closing laps of the race. Caleb Campbell and Thomas Nordquist joined Giannetta on the podium for Race 2, a podium that included a first-time winner and two first-time podium finishers. “It feels great, I’m really, really excited,” Giannetta said after the race. “I was definitely really nervous, I kept checking my mirrors to make sure I had a solid gap and just kept my emotions in control by taking every corner easy, not pushing it, just focusing on bringing the car home.” Behind Giannetta were Campbell and Nordquist who claimed their first career Skip Barber Race Series podiums. “It feels amazing, I saw on the restart that I was P6, and I was ready to go and make up some places and somehow I ended up being P3,” Nordquist said. “I’ve been working on the confidence in the car and the aero. This is my first real race car so being able to trust that you can take turns as fast you can, I feel like I’m growing every single day,” Nordquist added. 
Elsewhere during Race 2, series newcomer Talley Fare climbed four spots to finish eighth, leaving NOLA with a pair of top-ten finishes in his debut weekend. Jack Mohrhardt showed consistent improvement throughout the weekend, bettering his career-best finish in the Skip Barber Race Series in Race 1 before doing it again with a sixth-place result in Race 2. Oliver Wheldon matched his best finish in the Skip Barber Race Series with a strong showing in Race 1. Wheldon, Giannetta, and eventual race winner Dean Lambros battled with each other throughout the race before Lambros found clean air and was able to pull away. Lambros’ breakaway was soon interrupted by Giannetta who reeled him back in, applying pressure to the championship leader in the race’s closing laps. Ultimately, Lambros held off Giannetta for the Race 1 victory by just 0.697 seconds. Alan Orzynski matched his best career Skip Barber Race Series finish with a sixth-place result in Race 1. Griffin Yellin, meanwhile, set a new bar for himself with an impressive run to seventh in Race 2. Yellin, Lincoln Day, and Nordquist demonstrated excellent race craft with a hard-fought battle in Race 1 as the trio exchanged positions multiple times. The Master’s Class was swept by Thomas Tarlton who bested his twin brother Rob Tarlton in both races. The Skip Barber Race Series will visit Circuit of the Americas on May 24-26 for a pair of races.
